LESSONS FROM JOSHUA
Joshua 1:-8-9
This book of the law shall not depart out of your mouth; but you shall meditate therein day and night, that thou may observe to do according to all that is written therein; for then you shall make your way prosperous, and then you shall have good success. "Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; be not afraid, neither be dismayed; for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go."
Joshua is given instructions on how to be blessed, prosperous, secure, and free. The first step was to keep the word by meditating on it night and day, observing the laws (mandates), and obeying the principles (which become keys that unlock spiritual doors, and bring about bountiful blessings). The second step was a command to be strong and very courageous... in whatever God was requiring of him and leading him to do. Why? Because sometimes the things God ask of us can be overwhelming and will require courage, faith, and strength. Joshua becomes the successor to Moses and was required to lead Israel into the Promised Land, after many battles with the inhabitants of the land. Abraham experienced such a thing, when God asked him to sacrifice his son Isaac, the son of promise, and his posterity; and, a trembling, reluctant Moses was called to deliver Israel out of the hand of Pharaoh. All three men were asked to do things that required faith, strength and courage. The miracle of it all was that God actually performed these great tasks through their obedience and willingness to push fear aside and walk by faith (not by sight). We can also employ these principles in our life and live a life of peace, freedom, security, and prosperity while experiencing the miraculous hand of God in our daily affairs.
